I am not very good at sitting still. It takes an exceptionally good book to get me reading rather than doing something physical.
We were encouraged in Abbie’s post last week to allow the Bible to speak to us directly. She shared a number of very powerful verses and I thought I would take one, meditate on it myself and share what came into my head. Here goes…
Psalm 37:23-24 “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”
God makes a way where there seems to be no way…do I really believe it?
God will do what we cannot do, but we have a part to play…
to actively step forward, eagerly expecting Him to make the way ahead clear as we do so
to delight in Him speaks of relationship. Am I investing time in prayer during each day to enable my relationship with Jesus to deepen?
We may stumble…we are not promised immunity from the risks of life here on earth. However, we are promised that He will never leave us (Matt 28:20), that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:39) and that He has prepared a place for us after we leave this life (John 14:2).
There is a big difference physically between stumbling and falling. Falling often causes serious damage. God is in the damage limitation business if our delight is in Him.
This is what this verse is saying to me today. Take a few moments now to meditate on it yourself. What is God saying to you through it? How might you apply that learning to the specific situations you are facing, particularly at this uncertain time?
